Looks like David Hallberg is getting some well needed time to heal his sprained ankle for The Bright Stream performances in LA later this month. This just in from ABT:
"American Ballet Theatre Guest Artists Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg will dance the lead roles of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty on Wednesday evening, July 6, it was announced today by Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie. Cojocaru and Kobborg replace Guest Artist Natalia Osipova and ABT Principal Dancer David Hallberg, who were previously scheduled to dance the roles... Cojocaru and Kobborg are scheduled to reprise their roles in The Sleeping Beauty on Friday evening, July 8."
Of course, since I can't bring myself to sit through ANY production of McKenzie's Sleeping Beauty, the news doesn't affect me much. And did you hear Stella Abrera will be dancing Aurora in the Royal New Zealand Ballet's production this winter? Ethan Stiefel has the best ideas.
